The Annual RD Cup Golf Tournament is held every February, in time for the birthday month of the Chairperson and CEO of RD Group of Companies, Mr. Rodrigo Rivera, Sr. This event brings together business partners and suppliers of RD Group and involves them in the noble cause of raising funds for RD Foundation’s projects for children.
The RD Cup is one of the biggest golfing events in the region. More than forty-five local and international sponsors support this annual event with an average of seventy-five golfers participating every year. The biggest funds raised in one tournament reached more than 2,000,000.00.
The proceeds of the tournament have funded various children’s projects of RD Foundation such as school-based feeding armchairs, kiddie tables, and chairs, and classroom constructions.
For may years, RD Foundation has been helping build better communities by providing scholarships to indigent students, providing school furniture like armchairs to public schools, building classrooms to remote and poor communities, protecting the environment, and implement other social development projects.
It was my first time to witness a golf tournament and it was superbly amazing than what I see on TV. I still wonder how they measure the distance and keep their sight at the wooshing ball while it goes very far away from them (and how the caddy maps the ball perfectly). Wonderful.
And here is another wonderful thing that is more wonderful than what I have said a while ago. The golf tournament was not just a simple golf tournament that most of the golfer joined every (I have no idea every when they celebrate it. Forgive me on that. Cringe!). The event was celebrated for the benefit of the children of the RD Foundation. WOW! (I know right! Super Wow!) I, myself is an advocate of anything that saves the children from poverty (for the record, I worked with Save the Children 2 years ago. But that should not be a thing to brag about. #JustSharing ?). So, when Mommy Chix (we call her mommy chix but her real name si Rofill Rillo. Cute.) throw us an invitation re the SWING FOR THE CHILDREN, we then raise our hands by the help emojis (because we were talking over the Facebook messenger). -chuckles-
Seeing the golfers from all around the region was truly an amazing act of kindness and love for the kids. Also knowing that the event was funded by big sponsors. I can emotionally say that hopes are high for the kids. (Kids.. You have no idea how much love you have from us here).
So, back to the golfers (I drove myself a bit far, sorry. ?). Here are the winners that brought the plaque home (and there were two gents who brought home the box speaker and the LED TV ?).
P.S. We actually waited for our names to be called during the raffle. But we then realized that we are not contestants. Give me some lol for that. UP-HERE!
